Doctor Who June 15, 2013 Pledge Marathon

I made a discovery on June 10, 2013 that a Dr Who Marathon was going to take place on 6/15/13. For many years I considered volunteering to answer the phones and decided - Long have I have been putting things off until tomorrow. How many tomorrow's have I neglected?  Where would I be a few years down the line. Would it be everything I dreamed of. What fates have I sealed with the choices I postponed? I have given so few second thoughts to the chances I have taken." Enough! Stand up and be counted.

It just so happens that the day of my discovery that June 10 would have been a dear  friends Birthday by the name of Kate Carlsen she recently passed away in December of 2012. Did she inspire me me to take action and empower me to be more? This I believe!

So I decided to take the plunge so to speak - I decided to volunteer at KBTC as a volunteer answering the phones for a Dr Who Marathon Pledge Drive. I came in second so to speak at the last few minutes of the pledge drive I was talking to a person by the first name of Carl who pledged $600.00 moments later another person decided to up their previous pledge topping it by $25.00 (for a total of $625.00).

I personally took $2,790.00 worth of pledges plus friends, family and myself I took an additional 300.00 to the station to pledge. This brings my pledge total to $3090.00, I am proud of my contributions. When I left the TV Station the telethon raised 17,400.00 this means that classic Dr. Who will be broadcast on KBTC for another 6 months. I wonder what the station will have in mind for being part of the 50 Year Celebration of the TV program I so cherish.

I did this to honor Kate and as a work class assignment to Step-Up to Leadership which I have been attending every other week for the past 10 weeks have been doing so with the support of my manager Lori Dunigan. The opportunity she present me and with the nudge from Kate, I have a very unique experience.

As fan of Dr. Who I leave you with this video clip which the Australians played on June 1, 2013 for the fan in preparation for the world to celebrate 50 Years of Dr. Who!

My 1st public TV appearance on KBTC on 6/15/13

Hello all-

I believe that volunteering is important way to build communities. I watch our local PBS Stations KBTC and KCTS often and have decided I need to step-up to being more involved.

Being a volunteer at PBS can be a challenging and rewarding position. Whatever your skills, your interests and your schedule, there's an important role for you at one of our many activities and events taking place throughout the year.
By volunteering, I am helping support public television, meet new people, learn new skills, give something back to my community and make a difference. I am leveraging my 25 years of experience as a telephone operator to
volunteer in an upcoming "
Pledge Drive" to

answer telephones and take pledges when viewers call in their membership support for KBTC.

For those of you who are in the local broadcasting area you can tune in from 6pm until 11pm and perhaps see me on TV.
I would welcome anyone who might be willing to support me in this endeavor by pledging during the telethon additional one can donate by clicking on the "Commemorate Icon" or this famous Dr. Who time machine the TARDIS.
